The system operates by using one or more robotic vehicles which operates the pallet movement tasks on intensive storage racking. Investing in a radio shuttle system cuts down the major operational costs. Therefore, for the warehouse, the return on investment is realized in a short time. During this period, a large number of goods flow at a high speed.
The radio shuttle is a self-propelled pallet conveying device which runs on the track in specially designed racking structures, for pallet loading and unloading. The radio shuttle is made up of programmable mobile carriers (through traditional forklifts) and specially designed racking structures, thereby saving staff's operation time.
For example, the forklift driver wants to retrieve certain pallets from specific lanes. To do this, he puts the radio shuttle (at home) on the lane and issues appropriate commands through the accompanied remote control.
The shuttle runs back and forth on the lane without any intervention, thus giving the driver the opportunity to handle other tasks. In this way, the number of operators required is still limited.
